Montreal Gazette - Opinion: In the Charles Taylor conviction, a warning to other national leaders

(René Provost, professor of law at McGill): The Sierra Leone Special Court sitting in The Hague has convicted the former president of Liberia, Charles Taylor, of terrorism, murder, rape, sexual slavery, using child soldiers, enslavement and pillage, amounting to war crimes and crimes against humanity.

While these abhorrent events took place in a small country that few Canadians could place on a map, this is a decision that will reverberate far and wide for many years to come.
