Montreal Gazette, et al. - Vote mob tries to energize youth

Published: 15 April 2011

Have camera, will vote.

That was the scene Thursday at McGill University, as 250 students waved placards, chanted, danced, ran, jumped and hugged for an electionthemed video that'll be posted on YouTube and TVMcGill. com.

Billed as a "vote mob," it was similar to 10 others organized on campuses across Canada for the campaign. The video will be overdubbed with Grammy-winning Arcade Fire's song Month of May.

The goal: To send a clear message to party leaders - who had little to say about young people in the TV debates this week - that "youth are informed and they are voting," organizers said.
