C3G Analysis Workshop
Module: RNA-Seq
RNA-seq is a technique that has becoming very common in biological research as sequencing costs continue to decrease. However, the bioinformatics tools required to analyze the data are often not well understood and difficult to learn. This workshop aims to introduce novice users to the GenPipes bioinformatics pipelines, with a focus on RNA-seq. Over the course of two days, students will learn the basics of the Unix Command Line and as well as the steps involved in a standard RNA-seq analysis, including quality control, alignment, and differential expression. In the end, they will be able to connect to Compute Canada clusters, set-up and run a basic RNA-seq analysis using GenPipes, as well as interpret and visualize the results. All topics will be taught assuming no previous experience with bioinformatics or high-performance computing.
Places are limited and offered on a first-come-first-served basis.
