R - Beyond the basics

Efficiency is crucial in the era of big data. We will begin with a brief overview of efficiency, in terms of both coding and computing. We will focus on efficient coding in this workshop. We will learn how to write our own functions, or use powerful R functions including aggregate(), by() and the apply() family of functions to achieve common simple tasks. Efficient computing will not be covered in this workshop.
