Research Facilties in Mineral Processing

Click here to know more of the Mineral Processing Research Group

The McGill Mineral Processing team is equipped with a wide variety of equipment and mineral processing techniques, including:

  • Beneficiation Laboratory: The Beneficiation Laboratory is used mainly for the beneficiation of valuable minerals from ores. Different focusses include flotation, gravity separation and magnetic separation.
  • Crushing Laboratory: The Crushing Laboratory is used mainly for particle size reduction and size classification, capable of conducting both Rod Mill and Ball Mill Bond Index work.
  • Surface Chemistry Laboratory including Electroacoustic Zeta Potential Analyzer, and Electrophoretic Zeta Potential Analyzer
  • Chemistry Laboratory: A self-heating facility, developed at the Noranda Technology Centre and currently installed at McGill, is being used in an extensive research program to determine self-heating potential and to establish mechanisms and reactions involved.
