End-of-Life Care in Dementia
Dr. Catherine Ferrier will speak about caring for people with dementia as the end-of-life approaches. She will explain the evolution of the disease and how to plan ahead to ensure an effective palliative approach in care. She will also reflect on the experience of grief at different stages of the evolution of a loved one’s dementia.
Dr. Ferrier is a family physician and holds a Certificate of Special Competence in Care of the Elderly from the College of Family Physicians of Canada. She works in the Division of Geriatric Medicine of the McGill University Health Centre, where her focus is on cognitive disorders and assessment of decision-making capacity. She is Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at McGill University.
