Memory Disorders Research Society: Annual Meeting 2025
Memory Disorders Research Society (MDRS) is a professional society dedicated to the study of memory. Members engage in basic and clinical research into how memory works and why it fails. For more information, please visit their website here.
Founded by Dr. Laird Cermak in 1988, the inaugural meeting of the Memory Disorders Research Society was held in Boston the following year. The society has met annually ever since at a venue which rotates amongst the home institutions of its members. The 2025 Annual Meeting will be held in Montreal, at The Neuro (Montreal Neurological Institute-Hospital) from October 15 - 18, 2025.
CALL FOR SPEAKERS
The 2025 MDRS Annual Meeting has some exciting additions to the scientific and social program while also maintaining the inclusion of open talks, symposia and discussion. There are four presentation options for you to consider:
Symposia (90 min): Present a topic that is of relevance to MDRS that is innovative and timely. Indicate this, with a clear title, summary abstract and the names of at least four speakers that will present (titles and abstract for each presentation) as well as the name of the chair/discussant that will lead an open Q&A
NEW: Debate sessions (60 min): Present a resolution to be debated between two teams of 2 to 3 members, both teams will open with remarks (10 minutes each team; divided amongst team member), followed by two rounds of rebuttals (10 minutes each team) and lively discussion
Open Talks: 7-min talk with 3 minutes of questions to present completed study or topic.
NEW: Half-baked Ideas: 7-min talk with 5-min for questions/feedback on a new idea or unfinish study. Collaborating presenters encouraged.

Open Mic - A Tribute to Past Members
As a part of the Welcome Reception on October 16 (Thomson House), we invite attendees to participate in an Open Mic Tribute. The tribute will begin at 9 p.m. and will be dedicated to honouring and recognizing past members of MDRS. Drinks and snacks will continue throughout.

The MDRS 2025 conference will mainly take place at The Montreal Neurological Institute-Hospital (The Neuro), located at 3801 University Street, as well as at the Thomson House, located at 3650 McTavish Street, Montreal, Quebec.

Most conference-recommended hotels are within walking distance (10–20 minutes).
- Simply walk north on University Street, past Sherbrooke and Pine Avenue. The Neuro will be on your right.
From the Airport (YUL – Montréal–Trudeau International Airport)
- Taxi: Fixed fare of $50 CAD to the downtown area (including The Neuro). Travel time is about 25–35 minutes, depending on traffic.
- Ride-sharing: Uber and Lyft operate from YUL. Follow signs for the ride app pickup zone outside the terminal.

- By Metro: Take the Green Line to McGill Station. From there, it’s a 10–15 minute uphill walk north on University Street.
- By Bus: Several bus lines stop nearby: 144 (Pine & University), 107 (Dr. Penfield & Pine), 24 (Sherbrooke & University)
Parking: Limited street parking is available along University Street (metered).
Accessibility: A wheelchair-accessible entrance is located on University Street, just north of the main entrance.

Led by a professional actor and storyteller, this ghost tour is sure to please ghost hunters and history enthusiasts with its tales of paranormal activity and the spirits of Old Montreal. The tour visits the Place d’Armes, Cours Le Royer, the Courthouse District, Place Vauquelin, Champs-de-Mars, Jacques Cartier Square and the infamous Chateau Ramezay. Outdoor Activities
Biking Along the Lachine Canal
A popular way to see scenic Montreal, the 14+ km route stretches from Old Port to Lachine and includes stops like Atwater Market and sculpture gardens.
Jean Drapeau Park
Just 5 minutes from downtown, this park includes walking and biking paths, an aquatic complex, Jean-Doré Beach, Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve, kayaking, canoeing, and the La Ronde theme park.
Outside of Montreal
Mont-Tremblant
In autumn, Mont-Tremblant offers hiking, gondola rides, and lake activities with views of seasonal foliage. The pedestrian village remains active with shops, restaurants, and occasional fall events.
Eastern Townships
The Eastern Townships feature scenic drives, vineyard visits, and access to parks like Mont-Orford for hiking. Small towns in the region host local markets and seasonal food events.
Quebec City
Quebec City in fall includes walking tours of Old Quebec, visits to Montmorency Falls, and local harvest festivals. The city’s historic sites and museums remain open and less crowded than in summer.
Facility Directions
The Montreal Neurological Institute-Hospital is at 3801 University Street, north of Pine Avenue West, on the McGill University campus opposite the former Royal Victoria Hospital.
Montreal is served by highway Routes 10, 15, 20 and 40, and by Greyhound Bus, ViaRail and the P-E-Trudeau airport. In the city, bus and metro service is provided by the Société de transport de Montréal (STM).
Wheelchair access
A wheelchair accessible entrance is on University Street north of the main entrance. Another wheelchair accessible entrance is in the loading area behind the building: to enter the loading area, turn into the driveway south of the main entrance. Please note, there is no parking in the loading area.
Parking
Parking near the MNI is sometimes difficult. There are parking meters on University Street and a parking lot north of the main entrance. To enter the lot, turn right into the driveway toward Molson Stadium.

There is a taxi stand on University Street across from the main entrance. You may call a cab from the free taxi phone in the main lobby near the Security Desk.

Metro
Take the Metro Green Line to the McGill station. Walk north on University Street and cross Pine Avenue. The main entrance is on the right, past the flags.
