Research Interests

Primary Research Theme: Materials and Structures
Research Group/Lab: Structures and Composite Materials

The revolution in various sectors of human activities ranging from communication, transportation and health demands the understanding and development of new advanced materials. My research interests mainly focus on the development of the next generation of process modeling tools for advanced composite materials. I am also looking at the mechanical and physical properties and processibility of new revolutionary nanostructured composite materials also know as nanocomposites. A combination of experimental and computational techniques are utilised to reach these goals

Current Research Projects

  • Modeling and Characterization of Nanostructured Polymer Composites
  • Multifunctional, light weight, single-walled carbon nanotube-based carbon fibre nanocomposites for transportation
  • Polyester Nanocomposites for Greener Transportation, Construction and Packaging Applications
  • Lightweight composite armour for IED protection: A single walled carbon solution Network for Innovative Plastic Materials and Manufacturing Processes
  • Out-of-Autoclave Composite Manufacturing
  • Fabrication of a Aerospace Primary Structure Prototype in Thermoplastic Composite Materials
  • Thermoplastic Composite Tail-Boom Concept Demonstrator
  • Thermoplastic composite thermoforming technology for complex and integrated aerospace components
  • Thermoplastic Laser Transmission and resistance Welding
