The Faculty of Law is pleased to announce that Professor Lara Khoury has received the Barreau du Québec’s Advocatus Emeritus (Ad. E.) designation. The title is awarded to members of the Quebec Bar who have distinguished themselves through a remarkable career, outstanding contributions to the profession, or constructive community work. Professor Khoury and this year’s other recipients will be celebrated at the Barreau’s annual gala, on Tuesday 19 November.

Professor Khoury is an expert in the fields of comparative medical, public health and environmental law, with a particular focus on liability issues. She joined the Faculty of Law as a Boulton Fellow in 2000 before becoming an assistant professor in 2002. Professor Khoury is an associate member of the Institute for Health & Social Policy and a convener of McGill’s Research Group on Health and Law. She served as associate dean (research) from 2015 to 2017. Professor Khoury is also a member of the Paul-André Crépeau Centre for Private and Comparative Law. Earlier this year, she was elected a titular member of the International Academy of Comparative Law (IACL).

“I am delighted the Barreau du Québec is recognizing Professor Khoury in this fashion,” said Dean Robert Leckey. “Her significant international profile, numerous research collaborations, and body of scholarship that speaks to fellow researchers, practitioners, and judges have all contributed significantly to the legal community both here and abroad.”
