Join the Tech Law McGill club for a presentation by the Honourable Simon Ruel of the Quebec Court of Appeal on the impact of technology on the courts.

Justice Ruel is the Chair of the Judicial Committee on Information Security (COMSI). Composed of representatives from the Court of Appeal, the Superior Court, and the Court of Quebec, COMSI's mandate is to ensure the management of the security of the judiciary's information assets and to preserve the independence of the judiciary in this context.

The presentation will discuss the following themes, and will be followed by a Q&A

  • The technological landscape of courts and judicial independence;
  • COVID-19 and "e-courts";
  • Judges and social media;
  • The transformation and modernization of justice;
  • The impact of the Jordan decision on trial delays.

This event is eligible for inclusion as 1.5 hours of continuing legal education as reported by members of the Barreau du Québec.
