Threads of Belonging: Indigenous Hoodie Design Contest

Call out to Indigenous students!

The Office of Indigenous Initiatives and the McGill Campus Store is holding an open call out to artists to design a limited edition McGill University sweater.

Aim of the Project

The Office of Indigenous Initiatives and McGill Campus Store is working with Indigenous owned and operated, Decolonial Clothing, to bring an Indigenous desgined hoodie to McGill. Integrating an Indigenous inspired and designed hoodie at McGill’s campus store continues the commitment towards physical representation and symbolic recognition in line with McGill's 52 Call's to Action. This limited sweater featuring Indigenous artwork creates an opportunity for students, faculty, and perspective students to purchase McGill merch that emphasizes Indigenous experiences, utilizing the talent of the Indigenous students at McGill.

More About the Theme

Students will be encouraged to design a piece of artwork that will be screen printed on the front of a McGill branded sweater and sold at the Campus Store. When creating this art for the hoodie, we want you to think about what it is like to be an Indigenous student at McGill. We want to capture the experiences of Indigenous students and have this hoodie be a physical representation of that.

How to Apply

  1. Using the provided template, create your design on the sweater template.
  2. Download and upload the template into the MS Forms Application.
