Graduate Student Opportunities
The Rathlyn Fellowship
Thanks to the generosity of Roger Warren, the Rathlyn Fellowship supports Indigenous graduate students pursuing thesis-based research at McGill University. Two fellowships of $12,500 are awarded to Indigenous students writing an MA or Doctoral thesis. The applicant’s research must focus on Indigenous Canada. The most recent application deadline was December 19, 2025. Updated deadlines are announced annually.
Eligibility
- Indigenous students enrolled in a thesis-based MA or PhD program at McGill
- Research must address an aspect of Indigenous Canada
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit the following:
- A completed Nomination Form, signed by both the applicant and the Chair or Director of the applicant’s department at McGill
- One recent letter of recommendation (original or certified copy), such as a letter from the thesis supervisor or a letter submitted in support of admission
- A description of the research project (maximum 2 pages)

The Faculty of Arts Institute for Indigenous Research and Knowledges is hiring Teaching Assistants for INDG 200: Introduction to Indigenous Studies for the Fall 2026 term.
