Academic & Professional resources

McGill offers a wide array of services and resources for graduate students including academic and professional support services and resources.

Student Accessibility & Achievement

Student Accessibility and Achievement helps students achieve their goals and overcome barriers by providing accommodations for students with documented disabilities, support for students from care, and resources for learning that are available to all McGill students. Their Tutor Matching Program matches requests for tutoring (for any McGill courses) with qualified peer tutors.

Advisors are available to discuss your barriers and determine what resources or accommodations will help make your time at McGill a success. Register, find support, or explore resources for learning with Student Accessibility and Achievement.

McGill Libraries

The McGill University Library & Archives is your place to find anything and everything you may need to support your academic work and research. Additionally, you may book quiet study spaces and access e-resources through the Library.

  • Your faculty is assisted by a Liaison Librarian, a subject-specific research expert dedicated to helping you find what you are looking for. Additionally, your Liaison Librarian has compiled a Subject Guide that can introduce you to the most relevant journals, databases, and other research materials for your field of study.

  • McGill Library also provides a wide-range of research-related workshops and seminars including making effective use of citation management software, developing introductory programming skills, and improving your research techniques as a graduate student.

McGill Writing Centre & Graphos

The McGill Writing Centre offers a variety of courses and workshops to help improve your writing skills. Within the McGill Writing Centre, Graphos offers different ways for graduate students to become more efficient, precise, and effective scholarly communicators. The services offered by Graphos are designed to address three focal points of the graduate experience: research, funding, and publication. The services include:

  • 1-credit courses that complement your degree program, including courses for students who are new to academic communication in English.

  • Workshops that tackle key writing topics in a hands-on format that can apply to your seminar papers, conference talks, or fellowship proposals.

  • Peer Fellowship Writing Groups that provide feedback and support during the fellowship writing process and provide a safe space to sharpen arguments and structure ideas.

  • Writing Commons, a space in which Graphos creates the right conditions for you to write productively during thesis retreats and other events.
