Foreign Affairs & International Trade Canada Scholarships (DFAIT)

There are a number of funding initiatives handled by the Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada (DFAIT).   While McGill GPS does not play a part in the application for these awards, GPS Graduate Funding serves as a liaison once the award is given and facilitates payments.  DFAIT announces their deadlines independently.

For more information on DFAIT funding, refer to the Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada scholarships website.

Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships

The purpose of the Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships is to build world-class research capacity by recruiting top-tier Canadian and international postdoctoral researchers at an internationally competitive level of funding. The objective is to attract and retain top-tier postdoctoral talent, both nationally and internationally, to develop their leadership potential and to position them for success as research leaders of tomorrow, positively contributing to Canada's economic, social and research-based growth through a research-intensive career.

Adequate medical coverage (which includes in-hospital and out-patient services) is a condition for postdoctoral registration at McGill, and proof of such insurance is one of the materials required to register as a postdoctoral fellow and as a postdoctoral research trainee.
