Queen Elizabeth Scholarships| 2024 Call for Proposals

Queen Elizabeth Scholarships| 2024 Call for Proposals

Funded by the Community Foundations of Canada, this is the sixth call for proposals for the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Scholarship Program

The Canadian Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Scholarships program (QES) was created to improve global talent between Canada and other nations. The program aims to develop the next generation of innovative leaders and community builders by providing enriched academic, professional, and cross-cultural experiences and by facilitating lasting local and global community engagement.

This year’s competition will support projects that focus on health, education, social and economic development, while enhancing academic diplomacy. Priority is given to proposals focusing on diversity and inclusion, as well as those which result in an increased contribution to local and global communities by young leaders.

Successful proposals will support international study, research or internships for Canadian students and/or scholarships for incoming international graduate students to study or do research.

Value and Duration:

Project proposals may seek funding of up to $300,000 CAD total to support a multi-year project.

QES has a total funding envelope of $1,600,000 to award through the competition (i.e., the sum of funding awarded to all successful applicants must fall below $1.6M).

Additional Information:

Proposals will be evaluated by a committee including the Office of the Provost and Vice-Principal Academic, Global Engagement, Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies, and the Office of the Vice-Principal (Research and Innovation). Ultimately, a single proposal will be submitted by the University to QES.

Examples of previous successfully-funded McGill proposals include:

  • LINkIN-Ghana: A collaboration with the University of Ghana to strengthen the capacity of researchers to develop solutions to agriculture, food and nutrition security.

  • Climate Adaptation & Resilient Communities: Policy, Research and Practice: A training and research exchange program with the University of the West Indies.

Application guideline:

1. Read the QES 2024 Program Guidelines for proposal criteria and requirements.

2. Submit your proposal to Global Engagement by noon, Thursday July 6, 2023. The application must be included in its entirety (including budget). If partnering with another institution, you must be prepared to provide letters of support from the partner institution upon request.
