Research Program
Our research program has two aims:
- To identify the genetic determinants of common, aging-related endocrine diseases, such as osteoporosis and type 2 diabetes;
- To use this information to provide improve clinical care of our patients.
The Richards Lab uses genomics technologies to identify novel biologic pathways that cause common diseases.
- Many drugs currently exist that target these pathways and these drugs could represent new therapeutic options for disease.
- Our goal is to generate novel and personalized therapeutic options by respositioning existing, less expensive drugs to new indications.
By understanding the causes of common diseases, we can identify individuals at risk, and develop effective and efficient treatment options for them.
