Delal Ilhanli

Delal is currently in her third year of completing her B.Sc. undergraduate degree in the Neuroscience Major program and Psychology Minor program at McGill University. She has lived most of her life in Turkey and moved to Canada at the age of 16. During a shadowing opportunity in a hospital abroad in 2017, she has developed a passion towards neurosurgery and since then, she has aimed to pursue a career in the medical field.

Her work in the ANPHY Lab is supervised by Dr. Birgit Frauscher and is executed together with graduate students Tamir Avigdor and Katharina Schiller. The objective of her project is to map NREM sleep oscillations in patients with focal epilepsy by comparing high-density EEG recordings of 15 epilepsy patients and 15 healthy controls. Alterations of the oscillations may help to understand sleep disorders and memory issues frequently encountered in epilepsy.
