Dr. Primavesi's recent publication on dismantling equity barriers in EM
<p>Khangura, J., <strong>Primavesi, R.</strong> & Patocka, C. A paradigm shift: from overcoming to dismantling equity barriers in EM. <i>Can J Emerg Med</i> 26, 219–220 (2024).</p>
<p>Despite progress in gender parity among physicians, gender inequity persists in Emergency Medicine. In their recent publication in CJEM, Dr. Primavesi and his fellow authors call for dismantling systemic barriers through a paradigm shift from addressing individual challenges to tackling the root causes that privilege certain groups.</p>
Development and evaluation of a clinical simulation-based educational innovation on sexual orientation and gender identity in emergency medicine
<p><br />
Dr. Primavesi has been working with the Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity (SOGI) Committee at CAEP to develop and implement a 2SLGBTQIA+ emergency medicine curriculum at a national level. The article is an evaluation of the introductory module to sexual orientation and gender identity in emergency medicine, first of 10 modules in production. Dr. Julian Hughes, current McGill CCFP(EM) resident, has developed the 5th module on Sexual History Taking for the ER Doc that he presented at Wednesday Morning Rounds in January. </p>
New Simulation-Based Education Fellowship
<p>The McGill University Emergency Medicine (EM) Simulation-based Education Fellowship is designed to prepare participants for future careers as EM faculty simulation educators. This one-year fellowship provides supervised teaching experiences as SBE fellows will be active facilitators as well as learners in a robust McGill EM simulation program. The Program will also include a Simulation core curriculum, a focused area of scholarship / research and clinical medicine.</p>

Dr. Turner appointed to Associate Chair, Clinical Practice
<p>It is with great pleasure that we announce the appointment of Dr. Joel Turner to the newly created position of Associate Chair, Clinical Practice, in the McGill Department of Emergency Medicine, effective January 1, 2021.</p>
<p>In the role of Associate Chair, Dr. Turner will focus on enhancing and harmonizing emergency medical care across the McGill network. Dr. Turner will work in close collaboration with the McGill sites to promote excellence in quality of care and operational performance.</p>
