The DOM Mentorship Program supports faculty by providing access to mentorship resources, guidance, and opportunities for professional connection within the Department of Medicine. Mentorship can play an important role in reducing professional isolation, supporting career development, and fostering career satisfaction and growth.
Mentorship resources for both mentors and mentees are available through myCourses, offering practical guidance and tools to help participants build meaningful and effective mentoring relationships.
For Clinician Scientists, the DOM offers a formal mentorship matching program, connecting participants with experienced faculty mentors based on their goals and needs. Formal mentorship pairings are tracked, with participants expected to meet at least once per year, providing participants with a record of their involvement in a formal mentorship program that may be used to support grant and funding applications where applicable.
Faculty who are not Clinician Scientists are encouraged to establish mentorship relationships independently and can use the resources available on myCourses to support and strengthen these partnerships.
Mentor and Mentee pairings are recommended to have the same career path but different divisions.
