Education

The training of medical students and residents is central to our academic role. The Department of Medicine is a leader in education at all levels within the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. The Department is a major contributor to the undergraduate medical curriculum, through the Basis of Medicine and Transition to Clinical Practice components of the program. The Department is also responsible for a large number of residency training programs, in core internal medicine as well as in a large number of sub-specialties of medicine. Finally, the Division of Experimental Medicine is charged with the task of providing a graduate program (in collaboration with Graduate Studies) in the Department, and enabling professors located in the research institutes of the McGill teaching hospitals and certain other centers to supervise graduate students.
