Taras Konanec
Assistant Professor (Clinical)
Dr. Taras Konanec graduated from McGill University in 1997 with a DDS degree and subsequently completed the Faculty’s Graduate Residency Program at the Royal Victoria Hospital. In 2000, he joined the Faculty of Dental Medicine and Oral Health Sciences as a Faculty Lecturer in operative dentistry while maintaining a private dental practice.
In 2025, Dr. Konanec was appointed Director of Restorative Dentistry within the Division of Prosthodontics and Restorative Dentistry. Since 2021, he has also served as course coordinator for the preclinical operative dentistry program. Passionate about both operative dentistry and continuing education, Dr. Konanec is committed to advancing teaching excellence in the field, with a particular emphasis on promoting ethical, evidence-based, and minimally invasive treatment approaches.
In recognition of his outstanding contributions as a clinical supervisor in the DMD program, Dr. Konanec received the Dr. Ralph Silverstone Teaching Award in both 2018 and 2026.
