Dear students and colleagues,
Let me welcome you in starting the new 2018-2019 academic year.
This year commences with new beginnings; a new Dean, a new Executive Academic team, new students and new faculty projects.
As a brand new Dean I am so privileged to have begun my journey with a wonderful summer full of amazing events: Summer Clinic for improving the oral health of priority populations, Eagle Spirit Camp for Indigenous school students, Summer Research Institute to advance worldwide scientific knowledge, the International Association of Dental Research Conference where our Faculty shone on the global scene, DMD orientation day, DMD welcome event, and the McGill Academic Administration leadership workshop among others.
These are but a few of the many events that give us the opportunity to come together and celebrate the values that we all cherish as a Faculty: trust, connection, integration, responsibility, respect, diversity, equity, honesty, giving back to our community and professionalism.
I have had also the pleasure of meeting and speaking with many of you and other members of the McGill community. I want to extend my congratulations to all of you: hand in hand, you have maintained the Faculty’s excellence and success in improving the oral health of our population with great enthusiasm, teamwork, hard work and splendid efforts.
Being surrounded by exemplars of excellence and being encouraged by supportive and collaborative members of our Faculty family has made me more confident, stronger and full of positive energy. Together, as a Faculty, I am certain that we will achieve key elements of our Faculty’s 5-year Strategic plan.
To our students, both returning and new, I wish you an enriching year of stimulating scientific curiosity, wisdom, a sense of maturity and growth, as well as courage for the challenges you encounter as you move towards achieving your goals.
Finally, I wish all of you a great year full of health, happiness, happiness and more happiness!
And don’t forget:
Together we can make a difference for our society
Ensemble nous pouvons faire la différence pour notre société
