Introducing New Faculty & Staff

Dr. Rachel Hatcher, Research Administrator, Research and Graduate Studies (left)

Dr. Rachel Hatcher joined the Faculty as a Research Administrator this past summer. Dr. Hatcher is a historian by training. Her doctoral and post-doctoral research explores topics related to human rights abuses, reconciliation, memory, and justice in the Americas and Africa, with a particular focus on post-1990s Central America. Dr. Hatcher completed a PhD from the University of Saskatchewan in 2015. She then went to South Africa for a post-doctoral fellowship at the Institute for Reconciliation and Social Justice at the University of the Free State before settling in Montréal, first at Concordia as the recipient of the FRQNT’s postdoctoral Bourse d’excellence pour étudiants étrangers and then as a researcher with Trudeau Foundation laureate, Bernard Duhaime, at the UQAM. As Research Administrator, Dr. Hatcher works with researchers to facilitate research, including dealing with the various forms that researchers fill out for an internal scientific review of proposed projects and in relation to resuming research in the context of the pandemic.

Christine Ebrahim, Project Administrator, 'Dent ma communauté' (left-center)

Christine Ebrahim joined the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion team on September 1, 2021, as the new Project Administrator of the “Dent ma communauté” project, under the supervision of Dr. Firoozeh Samim. Christine holds a Bachelor of Political Science from Université de Montréal and a Master’s of Public and International Affairs from York University. She has extensive professional experience in the federal public service and is a certified Project Management Professional who particularly enjoys focusing on gender equality and social inclusion issues. Christine looks forward to working with the Faculty of Dentistry at large and contributing to a more diverse and inclusive environment.

Dr. Quoc Nguyen, Assistant Professor, Prosthodontics and Restorative Dentistry  (right-center)

Dr Nguyen obtained his DMD degree from Université de Montréal in 2011 and completed a one-year General Practice Residency program at the University of British Columbia. He has recently completed his specialty in Prosthodontics at the University of Minnesota and returned to his hometown, Montreal. Dr Nguyen has a strong interest in providing oral health care to underserved communities. During his career, he has worked in various rural communities as well as in our own Jim Lund’s Dental Clinic at Welcome Hall Mission.

Dr. Pascaline Kengne Talla, Assistant Professor (right)

Dr. Pascaline Talla is a dentist trained abroad who has worked in both the public and private sectors. She holds a doctorate in community health with experience in the use of health technologies. Over the past few years, she has worked in the Quebec health network, in partnership research and closely to clinical settings. Her research area is on population oral health and her research program is about community outreach and innovations in oral healthcare. Welcome Dr. Talla to the Faculty!
