Dr. Laura Stone Interviewed by the NHK

Dr. Laura Stone, Associate Professor with the Faculty of Dentistry, and former McGill Dentistry Postdoctoral Fellow, Dr. David Seminowicz, spent two days with a productions team from the NHK, Japan’s national public broadcasting organisation, to film a fifty minute special TV program about chronic back pain, to be aired in the end of June in Japan. Dr. Stone was the senior author and Dr. Seminowicz the first author of a paper that made the Quebec Science Top 10 list in 2011, “Effective Treatment of Chronic Low Back Pain in Humans Reverses Abnormal Brain Anatomy and Function.” A follow-up paper was recently published (Partial Recovery of Abnormal Insula and Dorsolateral Prefrontal Connectivity to Cognitive Networks in Chronic Low Back Pain After Treatment), spiking public interest and bringing the NHK to the Alan Edwards Centre for Research on Pain to take an in-depth look at the research going on. The productions crew spent two days with Dr. Stone, Dr. Seminowicz and a patient of their study being interviewed and taking footage from the Alan Edwards Centre for Research on Pain.
