Dr. Benhamou Received ACFD W.W. Wood Award for Excellence in Dental Education

The DMD Class of 2021 has selected Dr. Veronique Benhamou as the 2021 recipient of the Association of Canadian Faculties of Dentistry's W.W. Wood Award for Excellence in Dental Education.

Dr. Benhamou is a Periodontist, an Associate Professor and currently the Interim Director of the Division of Periodontics at our Faculty. After receiving her B.Sc. and DMD degree from McGill University and her MSc in periodontology and implant surgery from Boston University, she joined her alma mater in 1990 and over the past three decades, she has been actively involved in dental education assuming various academic and leadership activities including the Directorship of the Division of Periodontics for over 15 years, the Presidency of the Quebec Periodontal Association, and the Quebec Federation of Dental Specialists where she currently acts as the Executive Director.

Dr. Benhamou has received numerous awards and distinctions such as the American College of Dentists and the Pierre Fauchard Academy Fellowships, the 2005 W.W. Wood Award for Excellence in Dental Education, the 2009 American Association of Periodontology Educator Award, the 2009 Howard Katz Award for Excellence in Teaching and the 2014 Ralph Silverstone Teaching Award.

She introduced global outreach to McGill dental students and continues to lead various worldwide humanitarian oral health missions.
