New Division Director and Associate Director of Community Based Dental Services and Public Health

Dr. Hermina Harnagea and Dr. Pascaline Kengne Talla have been named as the new Director and Associate Director of the Division of Community-Based Dental Services and Public Health at the Faculty of Dental Medicine and Oral Health Sciences. Dr. Harnagea succeeds Dr. Frances Power, who served as the inaugural Director since the division's inception. I wish to take this opportunity to express our thanks to Dr. Power for her exceptional work in fostering the growth and success of the division.

Dr. Hermina Harnagea was recently hired as an Assistant Professor in the Faculty. She holds a DMD and a MSc in Dentistry from the Grigore T. Popa University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Romania, and a MSc in Health Administration and PhD in Public Health from Université de Montréal. She completed her postdoctoral training in Dental Public Health at McGill University. Dr Harnagea's research focuses on the integration of oral health in primary health care and the development of oral health care assessment tools. Dr. Harnagea has collaborated with the Ministry of Health and Social Services (MSSS) in the development and implementation of the oral health program for residents in public long-term care facilities. She has received several awards for projects related to clinical innovation.

Dr. Pascaline Kengne Talla joined the Faculty as an Assistant Professor in 2021. She holds a DDS degree from Université Felix Houphouet Boigny in Côte d'Ivoire, a MPH in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from Université Libre de Bruxelles, a PhD in Community Health from Université Laval, and a postdoctoral fellowship in person-centered care and health care technologies from McGill University. Her research program focuses on social innovation and digital health with a special focus on aging populations, and the implementation of science and knowledge mobilisation for an inclusive and sustainable health care system.
