Run for Outreach 2019

Runners take on Mont-Royal to raise funds for Dentistry's Service to the Community Program.

On the morning of Saturday, September 21st, Mont-Royal didn't seem all that much different. Dozens of people were either running or walking through the trails—often times with pups in tow. But on that day, over 100 people ran with a purpose, and with helping their community in mind.

The Run for Outreach is a student-led annual fundraiser where members from the Faculty of Dentistry and wider community take on the mountain to raise funds for the Faculty's Service to the Community Program. This year marks the 13th annual run, and demonstrates our students' enduring dedication to supporting their communities. The money raised for the run through McGill's Seeds of Change crowd-funding platform goes directly to supporting the work of students helping the Montreal and wider community, delivering free oral health treatments to people in need through the many initiatives in the Faculty's Service to the Community Program.

With time still left on the clock, the Run for Outreach has raised far above 100% of its target fundraising goal of $5,000. In total, the Run for Outreach raised over $7,000!

This year's Run for Outreach team includes Stamatis Kouniaris (DMD III), McKenzie Laframboise (DMD II), Shany Ouaknine (DMD II), Mahya Sabour (DMD II) and Jacques Jaar (DMD II).

The team wishes to thank its sponsors, including, TD Bank, Altima Dental, Fitz Roy, Dr. Connie Tse-Wallerstein, Lapointe Dental Centres, Mobile Dental Care Inc., Beaconsfield Orthodontiste, Center for Micro Endodontics and Peridontics, Dr. Llyod Flanagan, Fondation de l’order des dentistes de Quebec, Association des Chirurgiens Dentistes du Quebec, CDSPI, Pita Pit and many more!
