As Principal of McGill, I am deeply sorry that events so at odds with the culture and values of the university have happened here at McGill. I know that I am not alone in regarding these events as most regrettable and ones that we hope never to see repeated.
Please note that a portion of today's Senate meeting will be live-streamed on the web so that more people will be able to observe the discussion. This portion of the meeting will be in the form of Committee of the Whole to discuss the events of recent days.
As you may be aware, demonstrations are planned for today on the downtown campus. As expected in such situations, appropriate measures will be taken to maintain the safety and security of all individuals on campus as well as to safeguard the University’s activities, operations, and facilities. Classes and all others academic events are planned to proceed as scheduled.
On Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2011, there will be a university-wide test of our automated notification service, McGill | Attention! The test will occur at approximately 10:40 a.m.
