Depuis quelques années, des étudiants de l’université McGill ont pris l’initiative d’organiser des journées conférences permettant aux passionnés de la mode d’échanger sur le sujet. Au menu cette année: présentations, tables rondes et séance de réseautage qui promettent d’en inspirer plus d’un! Une excellente occasion d’en apprendre plus sur l’industrie et de rencontrer des personnes clés pouvant donne run coup de main à notre carrière. Cette année, notre rédactrice en chef numérique (MOI !) fera même partie d’un panel de discussion sur la mode et la technologie.

Smaller but more-frequent promotions are key to minimising the high turnover of IT professionals, says Alain Pinsonneault of McGill University’s Desautels Faculty of Management.

IT professionals are far less likely to leave a company when their chances of promotion are higher, yet businesses cut back on these to avoid the costs of large salary increases. Therefore, smaller but more frequent promotions increase employee retention whilst keeping costs low.

Only three days after McGill captured their third consecutive national championship in the Canadian Collegiate Baseball Association, Shiraz Rehman, an assistant general manager with the Cubs, became the first McGill grad to earn a World Series championship ring. 

A 39-year-old native of Montreal who was raised in Blauvelt N.Y., Rehman earned a commerce degree from McGill in 1999, majoring in finance and accounting. Rehman was a 6-foot-2 switch-hitting shortstop on the Redmen baseball team for four years, serving as team captain in his junior and senior campaigns.

When the Chicago Cubs defeated Cleveland in Game 7 of an epic World Series in the wee hours of Thursday morning, the celebrations reverberated all the way north of the border to the campus of McGill University in Montreal. The Management Book of the Year competition, which is now in its seventh year, was created to uncover the best books on management and leadership, and help raise the profile of the great management writing published in the UK.

Last year’s overall winner was Frugal Innovation by Navi Radjou and Jaideep Prabhu, published by Profile (Economist Books). Previous overall and category winners include Steven D’Souza and Diana Renner, Richard Newton, Christopher Bones, Henry Mintzberg, Clayton M. Christensen and Philip Kotler.
