To Each Their Own: Giving Feedback To Introverts And Extroverts

We all like receiving recognition and appreciation at the workplace, whether it’s a pat on the back, an award for a job well done, or some one-on-one time with our boss. We have unique emotions attached to what makes us feel appreciated, and the nature of what we find motivating varies from person to person.

The Five Languages of Appreciation is one of the most down-to-earth and helpful approaches to giving great feedback. Gary Chapman and Paul White came up with five key ways to express appreciation for your subordinates, or others in the workplace: words of affirmation, quality time, acts of service, tangible gifts and physical touch.
