Phishing scam: "Your McGill University account Expired...."

There is a phishing email circulating to users. It prompts users to re-new their McGill University account certificate and to click on a fraudulent link to update their record. See an example of this phishing message below.

IT Security Reminder: Log off after using computers on campus

McGill IT Services would like to take this opportunity to remind you of the importance of logging off from your Windows session on all campus computers, including podium PCs used during teaching sessions. Leaving a computer with your personal Windows session open can allow subsequent users to access your McGill personal network storage (e.g. your P: or R: drive) and to open and send email messages from your McGill email account using the Outlook application on that computer. When's the next Mac Campus shuttle?

If you ride the inter-campus shuttle bus, you have to check out the Shuttle Bus Tracker. It's a mobile-friendly website that uses Google Maps to show the location and speed of each bus along its route. So simple to use -- just point your browser to http://shuttle.mcgill.ca. Click the colorful icons to see how fast the nearest bus is approaching. This year the tracker has been updated for greater reliability and more precise data.

Mac users: New key required to extend Trend Antivirus license through 2017

Update: December 30, 2016 We have received word that the vendor has not been able to extend the old license key. If you have Trend for Mac installed and you see a message saying the "Trial Expires on December 31", you will need to enter a new license key to activate it for 2017. Please follow the instructions in step 2 of the article Install Trend Micro Antivirus for Mac.

Trend Micro OfficeScan: Web Reputation Monitoring false alarms

Users may experience false positive antivirus pop-up messages from Trend Micro OfficeScan when accessing previously known and trusted websites. The pop-up message states that a Web security policy violation has been detected for a given malicious URL. Trend Micro is currently investigating the issue; we apologize for any inconvenience this causes.
