McGill’s latest Centraide fundraising campaign raised a total of $412,125 for local residents living in vulnerable situations.
All donations support Centraide of Greater Montreal, which aims to break the cycle of poverty by supporting children, housing, inclusive communities and a strong social fabric.
“As Co-Chair of the Centraide campaign, I am grateful for all contributors this year,” said Christopher Manfredi, Provost and Executive Vice-President (Academic). “Your support is positively impacting those in vulnerable situations within our communities.”
His thanks were echoed by Viviane Yargeau, campaign Co-Chair and Dean of the Faculty of Engineering.
“I want to express my deepest gratitude to all the participants and contributors to our Centraide campaign,” said Yargeau. “Together, we’ve not only raised vital resources, but we’ve also reinforced the spirit of solidarity that makes us stronger as a whole. Thank you for your incredible commitment to creating lasting positive change.”
This year’s campaign had been extended to March 31, 2025, due to the Canada Post strike.
Generous giving
Funds raised through workplaces such as McGill represent approximately 75 per cent of Centraide’s total annual fundraising.
“Your support is essential to our mission of building an inclusive Greater Montreal free of poverty,” said Côme Bardi de Fourtou, Philanthropic Development Advisor for Centraide of Greater Montreal.
“On behalf of the 375 agencies supported by Centraide of Greater Montreal, which support more than 800,000 people in vulnerable situations, I wholeheartedly thank the McGill community for its generous contribution to Centraide of Greater Montreal’s 2024 campaign.”
Special thanks went to the campaign’s volunteer committee members “for their time and effort in ensuring the campaign's success,” said Manfredi. “I saw first-hand their enthusiasm and excitement to fulfill our goals and dedication to the communities being supported by the contributions."
