An Implementation Guide for Quebec's New Labour Standards

Published: 29 January 2019

In June 2018, Quebec passed "Bill 176: An Act to amend the Act respecting labour standards and other legislative provisions mainly to facilitate family-work balance."

Changes were made to ensure its evolution in pursuit of the following main objectives:

  • favour family-work-study balance, particularly by improving certain leaves
  • upgrade the protections granted to workers who only have the labour standards regime to govern their working conditions
  • adapt the Act to the new realities of the labour market

The bill modifies a number of Quebec's labour standards requirements and entitlements. The attached guide was created to assist you with the implementation of some of these changes. You may also reach out to the HR Office if you have questions about this topic.
