Minimum Cost Housing / Hackathon Group wins 2018 National Urban Design Award

Bringing together an interdisciplinary design team from southern Quebec with more than 60 residents, the Kuujjuaq Hackathon, a five-day event in September 2017, capitalized on local building expertise and leadership to reimagine key public spaces. Order of Canada appointments: Julia Gersovitz and Ron Williams

Luciana Adoyo wins Award for Excellence in Service to GPS

PhD administrator Luciana Adoyo has won the Award for Excellence in Service to Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies for 2018.  The award was presented at the annual GPC workshop on June 13, 2018, by Josephine Nalbantoglu, Dean of GPS.  In the citation for the award, Dean Nalbantoglu remarked that the selection committee was impressed with Adoyo’s dedication to the graduate students in her unit, the efficiency she has brought to the daily operations within her departmen

Undergraduate team wins second prize at Tongji construction festival

A team of undergraduate students under the supervision of Prof. David Covo has won second prize at the 2018 Tongji International Construction Festival and Fengyuzhu Plastic Polypropylene Sheet Design and Construction Competition on June 10, 2018, in Shanghai.  The six winning U1 students are Shengkun (Tommy) Yang, Adam Joseph Ghadi-Delgado, Olivia Naomi Ahmadi, Hongming (Bruce) Liang, Diana Nigmatullina, and Nour Achrafie.

Atelier TAG and Architecture49 win Saint Joseph’s Oratory competition

At a press conference on June 5, 2018, at the Oratory Basilica, Saint Joseph’s Oratory of Mount Royal revealed the winner of the multidisciplinary architectural competition launched last December. The jury followed a rigorous process to evaluate the offers from the four finalists according to well-defined selection criteria.
