    In memory of AMR Centre member Dr Charles Frenette MD, a clinician, educator, administrator, and leader for nearly two decades at the MUHC.

  • Lyle Whyte
    Lyle G. Whyte (1960-2026)
    Dept of Natural Resource Sciences

    As a Canada Research Chair, he devoted his career to studying microorganisms in the Canadian High Arctic including bioprospecting of polar bacteria for novel antimicrobials. His research advanced our understanding of astrobiology and life in extreme environments, earning him several honors from the Canadian Society of Microbiologists. His international reputation led to appointments on advisory committees for the European Space Agency, the Canadian Space Agency, and the United Nations.
