Koforidua Technical University
Koforidua Technical University (KTU) is a leading public technical institution located in the Eastern Region of Ghana. Established in 1997 as Koforidua Polytechnic and later converted to a technical university under the Technical Universities Act, KTU has grown into a hub of innovation, applied research, and industry-focused education. Guided by its motto “Innovating for Development,” the university is committed to producing skilled, career-ready graduates who contribute meaningfully to Ghana’s socio-economic transformation.
KTU offers a wide range of academic programs through its five faculties—Engineering, Applied Science and Technology, Built and Natural Environment, Business and Management Studies, and Health and Allied Sciences, as well as its Institute of Open and Distance Learning. These programs include Higher National Diplomas (HNDs), Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) degrees, professional certificates, and postgraduate degrees across key sectors such as renewable energy, health sciences, ICT, and business.
The university emphasizes practical training and entrepreneurial development, supported by strong industry partnerships and a dedicated Research Directorate. It engages in local and international collaborations to foster innovation, support sustainable development, and bridge the gap between academia and industry. KTU’s growing reputation has earned it national and international recognition, including top rankings among Ghana’s technical universities and multiple awards for academic excellence and institutional leadership.
