The Science Office for Undergraduate Student Advising (SOUSA)

Welcome to the newly reorganized SOUSA website. To make it easier to find information relevant to you our students, the site has been organized by student type (New, Returning, etc.), rather than by degree. Information common to all students (such as Study Away) is grouped under General Information. We hope you find this site informative and easy to use.

SOUSA provides assistance in interpreting and updating records, as well as general academic information and advice about degree requirements, registration and course change, procedures for withdrawal, deferred and supplemental exams, rereads, inter-faculty transfer, study away, academic standing, graduation. We serve undergraduate students in the Faculty of Science and students in the B.A. & Sc. degree.

The Science Advisers

The science advisers are available throughout the academic year to assist students. They are experts in the rules, regulations, and requirements pertaining to specific degree programs. They provide ongoing advice and guidance on such student affairs issues as program selection, course registration, credit load, and deadlines. They offer help managing academic situations during periods of personal, financial, or medical problems, by working with students to identify various possibilities and strategies for making informed decisions.

Advising Schedule:

Each student in the Faculty of Science and in the B.A.& Sc. degree is assigned an adviser from SOUSA. Your assigned adviser is indicated on your Minerva transcript. You can meet with your adviser by emailing them for an appointment, or by coming to Dawson Hall, Room 405, on the days that you are available during your adviser's Drop in Hours. Drop-in sessions for that day are given out starting at 9:00. Our doors open at 9:00, except on Wednesdays when we open at 10:00. During peak periods (start of term and start of registration), it is best to come early to get a time slot, even if it is for later in the day.

For drop in advising, be sure to present yourself to the receptionist
Dawson Hall room 405.
