Two years have passed since Andre Costopoulos, an associate professor of anthropology at McGill University, first set foot in Parc Safari, charged with the task of uncovering and reassembling the remains of a buried elephant. What then promised to be a small public-education project at a Quebec zoo has since developed in remarkable ways, burgeoning into a forensic research project with a human rights dimension.
