Montreal Gazette (blog) - Joey Flowers cooks up $12 000 for native women's shelter

Published: 23 March 2011

Braised bison, Arctic char, shrimp and more than $12,000 for a good cause. Not bad for a night's work.

Last week, I wrote a column about Joey Flowers, the McGill law student who put his training as a chef to work to raise money for Montreal's Native Women's Shelter. The event, dubbed Mamu Chu Chi Nan, took place Sunday night at Gita Seaton's Le Nouveau Palais, and was, Flowers happily reports, a great success.

"We raised more than $12,000. About 70 people showed up to eat. We had a team of six in the kitchen and about seven in the front of house."
