Globe and Mail, et al. - Health linked with income, education: study

Published: 9 June 2011

Canadians with lower income and education levels tend to experience consistently worse-than-average health throughout their adult lives, according to a new study led by a McGill University professor. Nancy Ross, a geography professor who led the research, said it's not clear why people from such backgrounds have a poorer quality of health.

Ross said the findings provide an argument for increasing efforts to improve the health of families of lower socioeconomic status by working on both "material conditions and educational opportunities for the young" in such households.
