When a Los Angeles law firm began adopting new artificial intelligence tools to automate contract reviews, it looked like junior lawyers and paralegals might be out of a job. Amazon Go, convenience stores that eliminate the check-out process, are coming to Canada. Customers can use a debit card, credit card or payment-enabled phone to enter, select and buy items, and simply walk out of the store. Amazon introduced the cashierless stores in the U.S. in 2018 and is now opening locations in Calgary and Toronto. "The growth in this sector is remarkable, with a significant amount of investment pouring in," says Professor Maxime Cohen in interview with CBC.

Donna Angela Roper, Professor of Computer Science with over 35 years of dedicated service, has been honoured with the inaugural McGill Desautels Award for IS Women in Academia. Heading the eCommerce School at the University of Panama, her work and influence extend beyond academia. McGill’s International Masters Program for Managers (IMPM) recently took steps to help 2sLGBTQIA+ people do this by launching a scholarship of up to $10,000 USD for leaders actively involved in promoting diversity and inclusion in their organization, communities, country, or region.

In May 2023, WestJet completed a takeover of Sunwing, a Canadian charter airline and the following month, it announced it was shutting down Swoop, its own discount carrier.
