If you've installed Alertus software on your laptop or computer, new versions are now available for Windows and Mac. Among other improvements, now you can see all recent alerts by right-clicking on the yellow Alertus icon in your System Tray/Menu Bar. From there, you can click to view the details of an Active Alert or any other recent alerts/messages (shown in red).

People Pages, located at people.mcgill.ca, are slated for decommissioning by the end of May 2016. As such, any issues related to People Pages will no longer be addressed. The replacement tool for managing biographical information is called McGill Profiles and will be available to all Site Managers shortly. For more information, see McGill Profiles - Overview.
McGill IT Services has extended the Wireless Network service to outdoor areas on the downtown campus. As of today you should be able to receive a signal near the Roddick Gates and around the intersection in front of the Three Bares statue. Additional access points will be added in the Spring at Redpath terrace and James Sculpture Garden/James Square. Read the recent article in the McGill Reporter ...
McGill IT Services is preparing to decommission the EVault email archiving service, used by active and retired faculty and staff, by March 31, 2016. Between December 20 and the end of March, archived mail messages will be moved from EVault to an “in-place” archive folder structure, which is accessible from Outlook 2010/2013/2016 on Windows and Outlook 2016. The archive folder, and subfolder structure, will also be available from the Outlook Web App (OWA), so you can access archived messages on the web if you don’t have one of these Outlook client applications.
If you have Trend Antivirus for Mac, you may have noticed a message saying the "Trial Expires" December 31, 2015.The license has now been extended for another year, till December 31, 2016. Just click on the words “Trial Expires” and the new expiry date will take effect (you need to be connected to the Internet).
Attention Law Students: ExamSoft, the company that makes Softest online exam software, has released an update, which now supports Mac OS X 10.11- "El Capitan" and Windows 10. The update is automatically downloaded on computers that already have Softest installed. Note that this version has a new login process that requires exam takers to enter their institution ID, "mcgill" for the McGill University Faculty of Law. Find out more on the Law SAO site.
Starting this January, McGill IT Services will begin providing WiFi to outdoor areas on campus. Initially, two areas will be covered: the Roddick Gates and the crossroads between the main entry road and the road in front of the 3 Bares statue. The old WPS Classified Ads website (www.mcgill.ca/classified) has been archived. Find a link to the "MCGILL CLASSIFIED" on the top right-hand column of the McGill Reporter site at http://publications.mcgill.ca/reporter/.
A phishing email has been reported with the subject "Compromised Account". It is signed from McGill's Information Security (InfoSec) team, and urges the recipient to fill out a form to unlock their account. A sample of the email is shown below.
A phishing email has been reported with the subject "Dear McGill account users". It is from McGill University Webmail and asks the user to click on a fraudulent link to increase their mcgill.ca e-mail quota. A sample of the email is shown below.
A phishing email has been reported with the subject "Compromissed account". It is signed from McGill's IT Service Desk, and urges the recipient to click a CHANGED PASSWORD link. A sample of the email is shown below.
A phishing email is circulating which tells users that a virus has been spotted on "our Sever" and the user must take action to avoid shut down of their account. A sample of the email is shown below.
Update - 4:30 pm, Nov. 12, 2015: uPrint Anywhere is once again successfully printing email attachments. You should now be able to print documents from your mobile device or laptop by attaching the files to an email and sending to uprint [dot] mono [at] mcgill [dot] ca or uprint [dot] colour [at] mcgill [dot] ca. The message body will not be sent to the printer.
