Date and time to be announced soon.

Industrial systems areDate and time to be announced soon. central to both the challenges and opportunities of sustainability. Yet, despite decades of effort, the transformation toward truly sustainable industry remains incomplete and uneven.

In this Master Class, Prof. Steve Evans will draw on his extensive experience working at the interface of academia, industry, and policy to explore how industrial systems interact with the living world—and why current approaches are often insufficient. Moving beyond high-level narratives, the session will unpack what is actually changing within industry today, what progress is realistically achievable in the near term, and where deeper systemic shifts are still required.

Designed especially for graduate students and researchers, this session will combine conceptual insights, real-world examples, and critical reflections on the role of design, manufacturing, and engineering in shaping sustainable futures. The lecture will be followed by a moderated discussion, offering participants the opportunity to engage directly with the speaker on emerging challenges and research directions.
