TB Seminar –Dr. Florian Marx
Dr. Florian Marx is a physician and epidemiologist at Heidelberg University Hospital, Germany. His research focuses on the epidemiology of tuberculosis (TB) and the impact of public health interventions on reducing TB morbidity and mortality in high-risk populations. He currently leads an Emmy Noether Research Group funded by the German Research Foundation focused on strategies to optimize TB treatment outcomes.
Nutrition and Tuberculosis Course
This course will provide state-of-the-art knowledge and evidence on the interactions between TB and nutrition, discuss technical and operational aspects of nutritional assessment, counselling, and provision of nutritional support, and outline areas of research in this emerging field in TB care and prevention.
Qualitative Methods in Global Infectious Diseases Research Course
This course focuses on the principles and rigorous application of qualitative methods in formative, operational, evaluation, and policy research on infectious diseases in diverse global settings. Teaching includes didactical lectures, dedicated periods for interactive exercises and short topical presentations and/or panel discussions.
TB Seminar -Dr. Luz Castillo
Luz Villa is a Peruvian physician with experience in infectious disease diagnostics. She coordinated multicentre studies on the early diagnosis of tuberculosis in high-burden countries at the Alexander von Humboldt Institute of Tropical Medicine in Lima and later at FIND, a WHO Collaborating Centre in Geneva. She holds an MSc in Epidemiology from McGill University, where her thesis, supervised by Dr. Pai, focused on drug-resistant tuberculosis and incarceration.

This course is designed for those working in or entering the field of tuberculosis research and covers both foundational methods and the latest developments in TB diagnosis, treatment, drug resistance, and prevention.
Advanced TB Diagnostics Course
This advanced course will cover topics in TB diagnostics research and implementation, including pipeline of innovations, critical pathway for new TB tests, impact of new tests on clinical decision-making and therapeutic choices, cost-effectiveness in routine programmatic settings, and impact on patient-important outcomes.
