The Annual Postdoctoral Research/Career Conference is an inter-university career development event for postdoctoral fellows looking to develop their professional path in Québec. 

It is intended to bring together the Postdoc community from across Quebec to explore research career options through panel discussions, workshops, and networking opportunities. 

The Postdoctoral Career Conference is led by a dedicated team of Postdocs from Concordia University, École Technologie Supérieure (ÉTS), Institute National de la Recherche Scientifique (INRS), Université Laval, McGill University, Université de Montréal (UdeM), Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) and Université de Sherbrooke (UdeS).

Research-Career Day

We are pleased to invite you to the 12th Annual Postdoctoral Research/Career Day on career prospects after a postdoctoral fellowship. This event will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., at Concordia University and is open to postdoctoral fellows registered in participating Quebec universities.

Virtual Career Panels

The 12th Annual Postdoctoral Research and Career Day is hosting three virtual career panels ahead of the main event to equip you with insights and resources, helping you make informed, well-rounded career decisions! The panels will focus on the academic job market, entrepreneurship for postdocs and preparing a strong resume and cover letter for jobs inside and outside academia.

Compétences transversales et gestion de carrière

Friday, Apr 24 / 12 pm - 1:30 pm / online

Cet atelier offre aux stagiaires postdoctorantes un accompagnement stratégique pour reconnaître, développer et mettre en avant leurs compétences transversales, des atouts essentiels pour réussir leur transition de carrière dans le milieu académique comme au delà. Il leur permet d’identifier clairement leurs forces, de démontrer leur pertinence au regard des besoins du marché du travail et de maîtriser les stratégies d’entrevue les plus efficaces. Grâce à des outils pratiques, les participantes et participants apprendront à communiquer leur réelle valeur ajoutée, à anticiper les attentes des employeurs et à renforcer leur impact ainsi que leur positionnement professionnel. In French, English questions are welcome.

The Path to Entrepreneurship After The Postdoc With V1 Studio

Friday, May 8 / 12 pm - 1pm / online

Curious about how your research could help solve real-world problems? Join V1 Studio for an interactive session on entrepreneurship for researchers and discover how ideas from academia can evolve into real-world solutions. You’ll also hear directly from entrepreneurs who began their journey in research and went on to develop their work beyond academia. Through a conversation and open Q&A, you’ll have the chance to ask questions, learn from their experience and discover what the path from research to entrepreneurship can look like.

Preparing for Today’s Academic Job Market

Friday, May 22 / 12 pm - 1pm / online

This panel is designed to help postdoctoral fellows navigate the academic hiring landscape. Panelists will discuss how to effectively prepare application materials, including CVs, research and teaching statements, as well as strategies for standing out in a competitive pool. The session will also walk through what to expect during the interview process, from the initial screening to campus visits, and how to approach post-interview communication. In addition, the panel will provide insight into how selection committees evaluate candidates, the role of Human Resources in academic hiring, and how Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) considerations are incorporated into the selection and evaluation process. Participants will gain practical advice and a clearer understanding of what institutions look for when hiring faculty.
