Mandate

The McGill Health Network Office was established in 2005 by the RUIS McGill Executive Committee.

Responsibilities:

  • To provide a gateway to the McGill University hospitals for partners seeking access to clinical and/or consultation services.
  • To provide oversight and motivation to foster and support collaborative efforts which will lead to a seamless continuum of care.
  • To work collaboratively with the various partners, clinical providers and operational teams to develop, implement and evaluate the required service.
  • To develop written service agreements which formalize patient service corridors and ensure that these corridors are evaluated regularly and meet the expectations of all involved parties.
  • To develop written reports related to clinical network activity including those of the RUIS McGill subcommittees.
  • To liaise with the communications services of the affiliated RUIS McGill network teaching hospitals and coordinate the promotion and dissemination of relevant information.

The RUIS McGill includes all or part of 7 health regions and a total population exceeding 1.8 million persons. Health needs vary significantly by region and thus a region specific approach is applied by the Health Network Office in all of its initiatives.

More recently the MHNO has been able to focus on the development of true partnerships and where possible the sharing of expertise to assist in the development of capacity within a particular region. Positive strides have been made in developing the necessary trust to permit a network approach to be realized in a positive manner.
