Biography:

Dr. Tritsch graduated from McGill University with a B.Sc. in immunology and a M.Sc. in neuroscience. He then obtained a Ph.D. in neuroscience from Johns Hopkins University under the mentorship of Dr. Dwight Bergles before completing a postdoctoral fellowship with Dr. Bernardo Sabatini at Harvard Medical School. In 2016, Dr. Tritsch opened his laboratory in the Department of Neuroscience and Physiology at New York University Grossman School of Medicine, where he explored the cellular and molecular mechanisms through which dopamine neurons modulate the activity of brain circuits that control voluntary movements in health and disease. His laboratory relocated to the Douglas Hospital Research Center in 2024, with the goal of deepening our understanding of neuromodulatory signaling in mental health disorders. Dr. Tritsch’s research uses a variety of optical, genetic and physiological approaches in rodents to reveal how the mammalian brain learns and motivates action.
