Dear McGill community members,
I am happy to announce the appointment of Sarah Leu as Interim Dean of the School of Continuing Studies (SCS), effective August 17, 2026.
Since joining the School in 2018 as a Faculty Lecturer at the McGill Writing Centre, Sarah has held several key leadership roles within SCS, including Director, Language and Intercultural Communication and Academic Director, Global and Strategic Communication. Since 2023 she has served as Associate Dean, Academic Programs and Planning for SCS and she was promoted to Senior Faculty Lecturer in 2024.
She completed a doctorate in Education from New York University with a specialization in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) and thereafter held a professorship at the City University of New York. Prior to joining SCS, she served as Assistant Professor of ESL at Concordia University. She has also taught courses in TESL at New York University, The New School, Concordia University, the University du Québec à Montreal and McGill’s Faculty of Education (Department of Integrated Studies in Education).
I would like to thank Sarah for her willingness to take on this important role. I would also like to express my sincere appreciation to Prof. Carola Weil for her eight years of dedicated service as Dean of the School of Continuing Studies and Associate Member of the Department of Political Science, and to congratulate her on her new role as Vice-Provost for International Affairs at the University of Minnesota. We wish her the very best going forward!
