This project aims to test teacher training tools for content and language integration in secondary-level subject classes.
Using surveys, video recorded observations of four training workshops, and focus groups with 50 pre- and in-service history and geography teachers in France, we are investigating:
1. What features of teacher language awareness training tools do teachers perceive as having a positive impact on their ability to attend to language in their content teaching?
2. How does teachers’ subject-specific language awareness manifest itself during and after the PD intervention?
3. What are teachers’ perceptions regarding the impact of the tools on their students’ subject-specific learning?
