On February 26, 2026, the Plurilingual Lab hosted an online Speaker Series event titled Voices from Latin America: Decolonial, Multilingual, and Multimodal Resisting Practices. Held via Zoom, Dr. Mario López-Gopar (Facultad de Idiomas, Universidad Autónoma Benito Juárez de Oaxaca, Mexico) examined Indigenous and Afro–Latin American multilingual and multimodal artistic performances (e.g., on YouTube) as creative, decolonial practices that resist 500 years of European epistemological and linguistic imposition, linking them to issues such as land recognition, citizenship, gender, Blackness, and ethnicity.
